ENVIRONMENT

The Pre-school & Crèche is a successful school providing exceptional service to the children and parents involved with the setting. The environment is warm welcoming and stimulating. We are surrounded by a secure fence enabling freedom of play in our vast outdoor area. All our classrooms have access to the outdoor environment including the babies who have their own garden with a rubber flooring.

Internally the school is made up of five areas which are all dedicated to set age groups.

Classes

Caterpillars for children aged 3 months – 2 years

1 adult to 3 children

Ladybirds for children aged 2 years

1 adult to 5 children

Dragonfly’s for children aged 2-3years

1 adult to 5 children

Butterflies for children aged 3-5years

1 adult to 8 children

In each class we have a room supervisor who is supported by play assistants. As a team they co-ordinate and plan the room to ensure it allows your child the flexibility to make personal choices through play. We place great emphasis on your child’s social and emotional development. Through planned programmes we support them with informed choices encouraging friendship, confidence and independence. Each room has a linked bathroom.

The woodland area provides a quiet and safe atmosphere away from roads and traffic where the children are encouraged to look after the garden and have the freedom to explore in a controlled and well planned environment.

We have a range of facilities outside to incorporate play, ranging from a wooden boat play house and climbing frame, the children are encouraged to use the woodland walk and undertake balancing activities and small physical challenges.

Settling in

On joining the setting, children and parents are asked to join us and spend time getting to know our staff and practices. This demonstrates to your child that you are happy in the environment as well as your child. We then gradually increase your child’s time with us and ask you to take time out of the room and stay on site in the families’ room, after a period of time we encourage you to go back to your child’s room to affirm you do return.

This period of adjustment allows the child to feel safe and secure and builds a positive relationship between the keyworker and the family.

There is no additional charge for the settling sessions.

Eylog

We have an on-line learning journey called Eylog, which enables our staff to share observations  with parents, guardians, grandparents, increasing parent participation in your child’s learning.

Meals

Meals are provided by Slice of Pie, an outside catering company dedicated to offering children a healthy diet. The menus work on a four-week rota and accommodate all dietary requirements. As you may be aware, it is recommended that we all consume five portions of fruit and vegetables daily, a practice we actively promote. We believe that encouraging children to enjoy healthy food from an early age is essential for their well-being. Water and milk are available throughout the day for children to help themselves. Adults will assist the children when necessary. During lunch, staff sit with the children, using this time to engage in conversations and discuss their day.
